Fort Wayne FC earned a valuable point Saturday night with a 0–0 draw against third-place Forward Madison at Ruoff Mortgage Stadium.
Bernd Schipmann celebrated his 100th USL League One regular-season appearance with his ninth clean sheet of the season, while Fort Wayne's defense held a strong Madison attack to just three shots on target.
But Fort Wayne also had chances to win the match.
Clarence Awoudor was denied by JT Harms in the 53rd minute, and Taig Healy came even closer in the 73rd when Harms got fingertips to his header before it hit the post.
Madison finished with more possession, shots and corners, but Fort Wayne's defense stood up when it needed to.
The point also gives Fort Wayne a three-point cushion over Corpus Christi for the final playoff position. The two teams meet Wednesday in a massive match in the playoff race.
