Under the lights at the stunning, ever changing, Ruoff Mortgage Stadium, Fort Wayne FC continued its remarkable start to life in professional soccer Saturday night, grinding out a 1-0 victory over Westchester SC behind another clutch moment from midfielder Taig Healy.
Healy’s second-half strike was enough to send the home crowd into celebration once again, as Fort Wayne FC improved to 2-0-1 at home during its inaugural USL League One season. For a first-year professional club still writing its history in real time, the atmosphere already feels like that of an established soccer city.
The match itself carried the tension of two clubs fighting for momentum in the middle of the USL League One table. Westchester arrived determined to slow Fort Wayne’s recent surge, but the hosts looked increasingly comfortable as the night wore on. The breakthrough finally came after halftime when Healy — who has quickly become one of the club’s breakout stars — found space and delivered the decisive finish off a beautiful cross from Rempel, who continues to be a solid presence in the backline.

It was another signature moment in what is becoming a memorable opening campaign for the Autumn Gold & Black. Healy has now developed a reputation for timely goals, including scoring the first goal in stadium history during Fort Wayne’s inaugural match at “The Ru” just one week prior.
But beyond the result, the story surrounding Fort Wayne FC continues to be the environment growing around the club. The new stadium has immediately become one of the crown jewels of USL League One — a modern venue that feels built for growth and is creating quite a buzz. From the steep seating angles to the growing supporters’ section and the clean sightlines across the pitch, the stadium has transformed every home match into an event.

The club waited years for this moment, making the jump from USL League Two into the professional ranks while building a permanent home worthy of its ambitions. That vision is already paying off. Crowds have embraced the new era, with nearly 3000 in attendance last night, and players have repeatedly spoken about how incredible it is to play in this environment in front of their hometown fans.
For Fort Wayne FC, the numbers are beginning to tell the story. Unbeaten through three home matches at 2-0-1, the expansion side is proving it belongs in USL League One much faster than many expected. And with Healy continuing his scoring run and the supporters fully behind them, belief is building that this first professional season could become something far more significant than simply a learning experience.
